In the spring of 2022, our team of product managers spearheaded a project to create a written process aimed at streamlining product releases. Effective documentation is a crucial factor in determining a team’s success when collaborating on a projects.

Who is DIG?

Directors Investment Group includes several companies that support funeral homes nationwide with a variety of services. Two key companies within the group are Passare and Funeral Directors Life. Passare offers software solutions designed specifically for the funeral industry, making operations smoother and services better. Funeral Directors Life covers everything from preneed to at-need services, along with marketing help and more. Together, these companies help funeral homes across the country improve their services and operations.

Problem and Job to be done

Problems: 

  • Long development cycles lead to delayed product releases.
  • Difficulty adapting to changing market demands and customer feedback.
  • Poor communication between product management, development teams, and stakeholders.
  • High defect rates and low customer satisfaction.
 
 

Job to be done:

My role

I facilitated individual team meetings to identify key success factors for each team, co-led a cross-departmental meeting to identify major pain points in our current processes, collaborated on problem-solving to improve documentation and processes, and co-piloted the implementation of the new processes.

Solution

The shift to an Agile product management process has given DIG a clear way to track our project progress and address any hurdles we encounter. This approach helps us quickly identify and fix process issues. It’s led to noticeable improvements in product quality, customer satisfaction, team collaboration, and overall business growth. Embracing Agile principles has allowed us to adapt swiftly to market changes, deliver value more effectively to customers, and foster a dynamic, motivated work environment. This success shows how important strategic planning, and continuously improving are for long-term business success.
